What this site collects about you, why, who it goes to, and what you can require of us.
Last updated: August 25, 2026
The short version
You can read this entire site without giving us anything. Nothing leaves here until you fill in a form.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Ever.
This site sets no cookies at all until you say yes. If you accept, two things switch on: the measurement of our advertising, on the booking confirmation page and nowhere else, and the site’s analytics. That is section 4, and it explains how to refuse either one, or both.
Who is responsible
Baribier Studio runs this site and the studio at 835 boul. Taschereau, La Prairie.
The person in charge of the protection of personal information, under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, is the studio’s management. Every request described below goes to them.
- salon@baribier.com
- (450) 500-4949

What we collect, and why
Each form asks only for what it needs to do its job. This is the complete list — there is nothing else.
- Booking an appointment — First name, last name, phone, email, your optional note to the barber, and your two communication choices (text reminders, offers and news). Along with them: the service, the barber, the date, the time and the displayed price. We need these to hold the appointment, to reach you if it changes, and to recognise you next time.
- Applying as a barber — First name, last name, email, phone, Instagram handle, and — if you fill them in, they are optional — your city and your years of experience. The language of the form and the time you sent it travel with the application. We use them to assess it and to answer you.
- Voting for a future studio — The city you pick, the page language and the date. No name, no email, no phone: the vote is anonymous. To stop the same visitor voting ten times there are two guards and nothing else: our server remembers your IP address for a day, and the vote travels with a signature of your device. That signature is a code worked out from broad settings — screen size, timezone, language, processor core count — and then scrambled one way, with no way back. It holds nothing that identifies you, it is used for the vote and nothing else, and it is built so that it is no use anywhere but on this site. We do not read your graphics canvas or your installed fonts: that is the line between counting a vote and following somebody.
- Arriving through a referral link — If you arrive on an ambassador’s link — an address containing "?ref=" — the link’s token and the page you came from go to our affiliate platform, so the person who sent you gets credited and your welcome discount applies. The token stays in the tab for the length of your visit.
- Writing to us — Clicking an email address on this site opens your own mail software. We receive what you chose to write, and nothing more.
We never ask for a password, a social insurance number or banking details. Payment happens at the studio, not on this site.
Cookies, the trackers, and your browser’s memory
Three different things often get lumped together. Here are ours, separated.
- Your browser’s memory — This site keeps three small values on your device: your position on the page (bb_scroll), the referral token if you arrived on a link (baribier.referralToken), and which studios you have already voted for today (baribier.voteLedger). The first two are never sent to us and are cleared when you close the tab. The third holds the device signature described in section 3, and that signature does travel with your vote — it is the one thing on this list that leaves your browser, and only at the moment you press "Vote for this studio". Clearing the site’s data removes all three; the signature itself comes back the same, because it describes your device rather than your browser.
- The Meta pixel — If — and only if — you accepted it on the banner, then on the booking confirmation page and on no other, this site loads Meta Platforms’ pixel (Facebook, Instagram) and reports a booking to it. Meta then receives your IP address, information about your browser and device, the page address, and its own cookies if it has already set any — which can tie the visit to your Facebook or Instagram account if you are signed in. We use it to measure our advertising, and for nothing else.
- Google Analytics — If — and only if — you accepted it on the banner, this site loads Google Analytics and reports how you use it: which pages you open, how far down a page you get, which sections you stop on for more than a second, and which outbound links you click — the destination domain, never what you do once you are there. Google also receives your IP address, information about your browser and device, and sets its own cookies to recognise you from one page to the next. We have turned Google signals and ad personalisation off: what is measured here is for understanding this site, and feeds no advertising audience. We do not record your mouse, your keystrokes, or anything you type into a form.
- They are off until you say yes — Which is the opposite of the usual arrangement: neither the pixel nor Google Analytics loads at all until the banner has had a yes. Answering nothing counts as a refusal. The two are set separately — accepting advertising measurement without analytics, or the reverse, is a valid choice, and both switches are at the foot of this section. Refusing does not stop you booking and changes nothing about your appointment — the only consequence falls on us: our numbers are then lower than the reality.
- Changing your mind — The switches below turn each use on and off separately, immediately, with nothing to save; the last button erases your answer altogether and asks you again. You can also block them from your side whatever you answered: your Meta account’s ad preferences, Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on, your browser’s tracking protection (on by default in Safari, Firefox and Brave), or an ad blocker. We do not act on "Do Not Track", which no standard defines — those means do work. Withdrawing your agreement applies going forward: what Meta or Google already received, no button on this page can take back.
- What there is none of — No account to create, no advertising profile built on our side, no session recording or heatmap, and no decision made about you by an automated process.
Who it goes to
Nothing is sold. What is above goes only to the suppliers that keep the studio running, and only for what they have to do.
- Mangomint — The studio’s appointment software. Your booking is created there and your client record lives there. A US company; the data is hosted in the United States.
- Our affiliate platform — The server that relays bookings to Mangomint and keeps the referral count. Hosted on Amazon Web Services.
- Meta Platforms — The confirmation page’s pixel, described in section 4.
- Our web host — The server that delivers the pages keeps a technical log of requests — IP address, browser, page requested, time — as every web server does. It is for security and diagnostics, nothing else.
- Google — Two separate things, and only one of them depends on your answer. The booking window loads a typeface from fonts.googleapis.com, which sends your IP address to Google; that happens whatever you answer, because it is the typeface being displayed. And if you accepted analytics, Google Analytics receives what section 4 describes. A US company.
- Outbound links — Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps and our partners’ sites are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to them before you click; once you are there, their policy applies and ours no longer does.
If our own booking window cannot load, the site shows Mangomint’s form in a frame instead. What you type there goes straight to Mangomint.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it — a court order, for instance — or to assert our rights. If the studio were sold or merged, client records would follow the business, and this policy would continue to apply to them.
Outside Quebec
Several of the suppliers above are established outside Quebec, mainly in the United States. Your information is therefore stored and processed there, subject to local law, including requests those countries’ authorities can make of a company established with them.
Quebec law requires us, before entrusting personal information outside the province, to assess whether it will receive adequate protection there and to frame the communication by written agreement. We carry out that assessment for each supplier, and again before adding one.
How long we keep it
- Your client record — For as long as you are a client of the studio, then three years after your last appointment. Accounting records attached to a transaction are kept for six years, as tax law requires.
- Your application — twelve months after our decision, so we can come back to you if a chair opens up. Write to us and we delete it sooner.
- Votes — The vote is kept only as a number. Both guards that prevent repeat votes — the IP address and the device signature — expire after a day, on our servers and on your device alike.
- Server logs — ninety days at most.
- What went to Meta — Kept under Meta’s policies, not ours. Section 4 says how to send it nothing at all.
Past those periods, information is destroyed or anonymised so that it can no longer identify you.
How we protect it
The site and its forms are served over HTTPS, so encrypted between your device and us. Access to client records is limited to the people at the studio who need it for their work, through named accounts.
No system is perfect. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, the law requires us to notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people affected; we will do so promptly, and we keep the incident register the law requires.
Your rights
They are yours, they are free, and an email is all it takes to use them.
- Know and see — Ask whether we hold information about you, which information, where it came from and who it was communicated to — and get a copy.
- Correct — Have anything inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous rectified, and have deleted anything we had no right to collect.
- Withdraw your consent — At any time, for promotional texts and emails as for the rest. Withdrawing it does not cancel an appointment already booked; we will keep what it takes to honour it.
- Stop dissemination — Ask that information concerning you stop being disseminated, or that the link leading to it be de-indexed, where the law allows.
- Take it with you — Receive what you gave us in a structured, commonly used technological format, or ask us to send it to someone else.
- Complain — If our answer does not satisfy you, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec can be asked to look into it: www.cai.gouv.qc.ca, 1 888 528-7741.
Write to salon@baribier.com. We answer within thirty days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before handing over a record — which is exactly to avoid handing it to someone else.
Promotional texts and emails
Appointment reminders and offers are two separate switches in the booking form, and both are off until you turn them on yourself. An appointment reminder is not advertising: it is the service you asked for by booking.
You can unsubscribe from offers whenever you like — reply STOP to a text, use the link at the foot of an email, or write to salon@baribier.com. We act on it without delay.
Young people
This site is meant for adults. For anyone under 14, consent has to come from a parent or guardian: if you are under 14, ask a parent to book for you. If we learn that information reached us otherwise, we delete it.
If this policy changes
The date at the top moves with every change, and it is the first thing to look at. A significant change to what we collect or who we send it to will be flagged on the site before it takes effect.
Reaching us
A question, a request, a doubt: one address answers all of it, and a real person at the studio reads it.
